CORD and EMRA partnered together to make EMRA Match the most useful, transparent, and accurate EM Residency Program database.  With the most recent upgrade EMRA Match now includes CLERKSHIPS in addition to residencies.  This post will help get you up to speed on this outstanding new resource to share with students and anyone who advises them.

A guide to using and updating EMRA Match for Residencies was published in a previous Vocal CORD post.

How do I use Clerkship Match?

Accessing the Clerkship version of EMRA Match is as simple as following this link, or clicking the symbol next to “Residency” in the upper left corner of the page and selecting “Clerkship” on the main EMRA Match page.

The intuitive functionality that makes EMRA Match easy to use remains the the same.  Users can search by name or location, or by scrolling and zooming around the map (powered by Google).  Zoom in on a region and you can see all of the Rotations in that area.

Sorting Clerkships to find the right fit

What has made EMRA Match so useful to students has been the ability to filter the EM residency programs by program characteristics, allowing them to find programs that fit what they are looking for.  EMRA Match for Clerkships has the same functionality, helping students hone in on the rotations that fit their interests and who will be interested in hosting them for a rotation.

The three featured filters adjacent to the search bar at the top of the page are:

  1. Participation in VSAS? (yes/no)
  2. Step 1/COMLEX Required?
    1. Find programs that don’t require either prior to rotating
    2. Find programs that only accept USMLE scores
    3. Find programs that require a minimum USMLE or COMLEX score for rotators
  3. Rotation Types
    1. Find EMS, Global Health, Peds EM, Research, Tox, Ultrasound, Wilderness rotations, and programs that offer Diversity Externship Scholarships

Are you on Clerkship Match?

As of April 2018 there are 126 EM clerkships listed on EMRA Match.  Clearly we are missing some. Don’t be left out. If you do not see your clerkship, or if the details are not correct, just click the “Add a Program” tab and fill out the “Register or Update Your Clerkship” form.
